Create Your Etsy Account

If you want to start an Etsy shop, then your first step is to create an account on Etsy; when you open their website, you will see the option “Sign In.” In another right corner, you will see another option, “Register.” So, if you are new, you have to register on Etsy in order to open a shop; you can provide your email address. 

Once you confirm your email address, you can open their website, and then you will see an option when you log on to Etsy: “Sell on Etsy.” Now congratulations, you have you have opened your account.


Choose a Name

You have created your account; now, the most important step after this is to select a good name because this name will know your shop; the better the name, the more people will remember it for a long time.

Uploading a video of your product is not necessary, but many people upload videos just to avoid competition or to provide more visuals of their product. If you want, you can also record a video and show your product from all sides, especially if it is vintage clothes or jewelry. 


Listing details

You will have to pay $0.6 for each item that you will list on Etsy. Once you upload the pictures of your item now, you have to provide the design of the product, such as why your product is special and how people can use the product. Suppose you are selling printable planners so you can write in the description (Enhance your productivity and organize with our monthly grocery planner). It is just an example. 

Inventory and pricing Suppose you’re selling vintage clothes on Etsy, so you have to include the price of your labor, shipping charges, material cost, etc.; after that, you have to add your profit and then mention the price of your item.

Deciding the right pricing is important, Of course, you have to add your labor, shipping, material cost, profit, etc., but that doesn’t mean you start changing too much. Always check other sellers and how much they’re charging. 

If someone is selling a monthly planner for $2 and you’re selling for $5, and both are providing almost similar values then undoubtedly people will from the first seller. 

An important tip: you can offer discounts on festivals and events. It will help you attract more buyers. 


Choose the payment method

You will have to provide details about your tax filing. For that, you first have to tell whether your business type is a sole proprietorship, individual, or registered legal entity (LLC isn’t needed to start a business on Etsy). You can choose any business type; I assume you’re an Individual, so you’ll have to provide your country (In our case, the United States), address, SSN, and phone number to verify. 

If you have an LLC, you’ll have to provide your business address, Business registration number, date of birth, SSN, etc.

However, when you’re promoting your Etsy business through social media, then you must learn how to target potential buyers; otherwise, you will waste your money and will not get sufficient buyers. On the other hand, Etsy also offers advertisement as an option, where Etsy itself promotes your products. 

Pinterest is also a good platform to promote your business, so you either hire a Pinterest manager or you can learn how to become a Pinterest virtual assistant and then promote your products by yourself.

Let’s say your product is about monthly grocery planners; now you have to include this keyword in the title and also in the description, and beside this, you have to include some related keywords to grocery planners.

I have mentioned above about Search Engine Optimization, i.e., SEO, which you can do only when you have good and high-quality keywords. Keep in mind that when you are new, do not only use one keyword; you have to find many related keywords and use them in the descriptions and titles.
