What is conjunctivitis
Conjunctivitis is also called “pink eye” and it’s a kind of infection or inflammation of the outer membrane of the eyeball of a person suffering from this disease.
In conjunctiva disease, the blood vessels pull on the thin membrane of your eye causing inflammation. And that’s the reason, your eye looks red or pink and is often associated with conjunctivitis.

Prevention of Conjunctivitis
- You should not use towels or tissues on your eyes.
- You should not cover your nose or mouth after coughing or sneezing, nor should you touch or rub your eyes frequently.
- Do not give your contact lens to anyone to use.
- Wash your hands frequently
- You should keep the items around you clean with an antiseptic cleaner.
- If you have any type of seasonal allergy, treat it
- You should take a bath with a contact lens as it can cause bacteria in your eyes.
Conjunctivitis Treatment
Its treatment depends on that, what kind of conjunctivitis you have. Let’s take an example, you have because of a chemical substance, so in that case, your disease will cure itself in a few days, but if it’s caused by bacteria, viruses, or any kind of allergies, then it might take a treatment.
Bacterial conjunctivitis
The doctor may give you antibiotics for bacterial infection because it will easily stop the symptoms in a few days.
Viral conjunctivitis
However, there is no specific treatment available for viral infection yet, because this infection cures itself within about seven to ten days. But for this, you need to keep compressing your eyes with warm water.
Allergic conjunctivitis
If you have conjunctivitis due to allergies, the doctor may prescribe antihistamines to treat inflammation in your eyes.
Such as loratadine, diphenhydramine, or Benadryl because these are antihistamines that are available at chemist stores. Apart from this, doctors can also give you antihistamine eye drops or anti-inflammatory drops.
